John De la Vale's Chivalry Challenge

— by John De la Vale on Facebook

Greetings to all.

I, John of the Vale, trained in the ways of chivalry and taught the ways of war since the days of my youth, come before you with humble heart and bowed head. Unto all worthy nobles, knights, and men of cote armor that read these words, warm greetings and all due honor.

I announce that it is my intention to perform a deed of arms on the fourth and twentieth day of August. On this day, two great armies will take the field to decide who is worthy to rule Ardesca. After these great battles, it is my purpose to offer an opportunity to strive in honorable combat in the lists, by which virtue may be strengthened, and gift those that challenge me in such noble combat with a flower to give to the one that inspires you on that day, for it is known: “You know, there really is nothing better than fighting for the chance to win your lady a flower.”

It is my intention to erect a pavilion, with all manner of luxuries, food and drink. I wish invite Her Majesty, and the one whose favor I bear that day, the honorable lady Ylva Twomey, I would also invite the consorts of those that would meet me in the list this day.

Therefore, and without delay, I implore those good gentles gather such pennants, heralds, and attendants, as is proper for such a noble endeavor, and to meet me at my pavilion upon the field. As it is written in the holy passages “iron sharpens iron, so one man hones another”.

I, John of the Vale, knight errant, remain the faithful servant of chivalry. Good keep you all.
